After careful consideration for the health and safety of our employees, partners, and colleagues, we have asked all Magic Leap personnel to suspend work-related travel due to the global public health concerns surrounding COVID-19. As a result, we are shifting our involvement in events and conferences to virtual participation where possible.
Supporting Business Continuity with Spatial Computing
Magic Leap’s mission to amplify human ability by merging the physical and digital now seems more important than ever. As the world gets smaller, more interconnected, and borders blur, there is an urgent need for a different type of collaborative communication.
One of the core capabilities of our spatial computing platform is communication, collaboration, and co-presence. With Magic Leap, collaboration across continents can be as seamless as being in the same room; realistic copresence can enable real-time file sharing and multi-user sessions. There’s no divide between remote workers anymore.
For example, using a communication and collaboration platform from Magic Leap partner, Spatial, on Magic Leap 1, BNP Paribas employees from across its global network can now be physically and digitally co-present in the same space, interacting as if they were all in the same room.
As more companies from across the globe do their part to help contain the spread of COVID-19, demand for technologies that enable them to continue their growth agendas and resume critical aspects of their business have come into increasing demand. We are dedicated to supporting businesses looking to deploy new technology solutions to solve for the ever-changing demands on today’s workforce.
LEAP Developer Days Postponed Until October
Last month, we announced LEAP Developer Days and began accepting applications from developers around the world to join us for a series of talks and workshops at our HQ in Florida. We could not be happier with the overwhelming response from our community.
However, in the ensuing weeks, COVID-19 has increasingly turned both international travel and large gatherings into public health concerns. In close consultation with our partners in the developer community, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone Magic Leap Developer Days to October 6-9. We always look forward to working with our developer community, sharing ideas and previewing where Magic Leap is headed. We’re working to schedule co-present events for developers in the meantime and will share information about that and more info on what will be taking place at Developer Days soon, so please stay tuned.
While we considered trying to host this event remotely, we feel that it’s important to bring our community together at our headquarters and really show what we’ve been working on when it comes to the Magicverse and the future of our hardware and software. If you’re working at the cutting edge of what’s possible in spatial computing, we want to help you get a head start on building the Magicverse with us.
Based on input from those developers that already registered to attend the conference, we are in the midst of finalizing programming around the event. We’ve designed two compelling tracks, one around go-to-market opportunities for developers, with partner showcases and discussions around the rapid growth of XR in the enterprise. The other track will focus entirely on technical & design best practices, again with partner showcases and discussions from some of the brightest minds at Magic Leap. We look forward to sharing these insights and more with you at LEAP Developer Days in October.
If you’ve already applied to attend LEAP Developer Days, we’ll hold your application for the fall dates, and we’ll let you know by August 6th regarding the status of their application. While we are postponing - we will continue to monitor events and update you on future changes. In the meantime, our thoughts are with all those affected by COVID-19. Stay Safe.
